Measurement & Measurement Reports
If a customer requests a tool quality report after the manufacture of a new tool or the regrinding of a used tool, the tool is measured and a report is issued. STATON s.r.o. provides this service on request and uses high-quality measuring equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
The CNC sharpening process is controlled by a FANUC system, ensuring high dynamics and precise grinding. Automatic tool measurement is performed using a RENISHAW tool probe, which captures all essential tool parameters.
The resulting tool quality is verified using a Walter Helicheck and a Zoller 3D CNC optical measuring device. A detailed measurement report is generated and can be provided with each tool upon the customer’s request.
The geometry of the cutting edge has a significant impact on both the tool’s service life and its performance during the cutting process.
Choosing the right cutting edge geometry not only improves wear resistance and extends tool life but also ensures greater reliability in the machining process. It also plays a key role in achieving a high-quality finished surface—a crucial factor in modern manufacturing. That’s why careful monitoring and control of the cutting edge are vital to meet today’s demands for both productivity and consistent machining performance.
Accurate metrology is an essential part of any cutting edge preparation process. We use a state-of-the-art Keyence VK-X series confocal microscope with 3D laser scanning, which enables highly precise 3D measurement of the cutting edge.
This technology not only allows us to compare and maintain the consistency of cutting edge preparation and optimize it for specific applications, but it also enables the measurement and analysis of tool wear, ensuring maximum performance and reliability.
